Some Dental Insight

For awhile now, I have been told by my dentist that I continually have receeding gumlines and that I need to use softer toothbrushes and brush lighter. Well, I have done all that and still nothing. So finally, I decided to take matters into my own hands and found this product called, "OralMD". The intent of this is to attack 22 known causes of receeding gums by seeping under the gums. I have taken this product for 1.5 days now and thus far it just has improved my breath immensely(I'm sure everyone around me is pleased of that result at least). I will update on my personal results as I have a dental appt in August, but I wanted to see if anyone knew anything more about products out there that are supposed to improve receeding gums?

MADD: The Evil Organization Going too Far

To coincide with my posting of the Utah study, I wish to expound on a point that has always irked me. MADD! As my personal opinion to exactly how the state of America came to prosecuting drunk drivers to a full extent of the law and changing the friendly cop who finds a drunk that offers them a ride home to a lowering limit to 2 beers and will cost you at least $4K to the system has honors going to MADD and a determined woman named Candy Lightner who chose to unleash her personal fury throughout society no matter whos life she destroys. I am guessing not many know the story of how MADD got started. As I am still looking for it, I got the story from my Drug monitor. Apparently, Candy Lightner was able to finance MADD through suing a poor PO officer on a technicality that essentially forced him to declare bankruptcy and ruined his life solely because she was not able to sue the state or the arresting officer in the case.

Well, as you can see, all good intentions have their unlying dark sides, and if one can justify the ruining of someone's life all in the name of their lost daughter, only to become a monster organization that you even have disassociated yourself from, then could you say it was all worth it?

Here's a great quote I found from the founder herself:
"Candy Lightner, MADD's founder, says she disassociated herself from the movement in 1985 because she believed the organization was headed in the wrong direction. 'It has become far more neo-prohibitionist than I had ever wanted or envisioned,' said Mrs. Lightner, who founded MADD after her daughter was killed by a drunk driver. 'I didn't start MADD to deal with alcohol. I started MADD to deal with the issue of drunk driving.'"
-The Washington Times, August 2002

And if you think you're safe with your two beers now, don't relax yet. MADD is currently pushing to lower the legal limit from .08 to .05 or in some cases .04! Here's some really interesting research:

The Article that No One was Waiting For

Well, it finally came out. A study to compare cellphone drivers to drunk driving to undistracted drivers. Results are out acording to a study done at the University of Utah that show cellphone users are pretty deadly behind the wheel...yet here we are harping on these drunk drivers. One interesting result of the tests, came with a conclusion that cellphone drivers may actually be more accident prone than drunk drivers. I know this will cause certain uproar around the country.
